Please read these terms carefully before submitting your entry to the Plymouth Illustration Awards 2026.

By submitting your work, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

1. Organiser


The Plymouth Illustration Awards 2026 (the “Awards”) are organised by BA (Hons) Illustration at Arts University Plymouth, Tavistock Place, Plymouth, Devon, PL4 8AT, United Kingdom.

The Awards are run by Course Leaders Sam Rowe and Ben Wright, supported by Arts University Plymouth.

2. Eligibility


2.1 The Awards are open to residents of the United Kingdom.

2.2 Entrants must meet the criteria for one of the following categories:
  • Emerging Talent Award: Open to anyone aged 16 and above who is not currently studying at degree level.
  • Student Illustration Award: Open to anyone aged 18 and above who has not completed degree-level study.
  • Graduate Illustration Award: Open to anyone who has completed degree-level study in the last three years.

2.3 Proof of age or study status may be requested.

2.4 Entries produced using generative AI or similar software are not eligible.

2.5 Employees of Arts University Plymouth and members of the judging panel are not eligible to enter unless also in undergraduate study.



3. How to enter


3.1 Entries open in November 2025 and close at midnight on 1 March 2026 (UK time).

3.2 Entries must be submitted via the official website (plymouthillustrationawards.com) using the online entry form.

3.3 Entrants may include a short written statement with their submission.

3.4 Entrants may submit up to three works. Each work must be the entrant’s own original creation.

3.5 There is no entry fee for the Plymouth Illustration Awards 2026.

3.6 Entries received after the closing date will not be considered.



4. Eligible works


4.1 Entries must be original works created by the entrant within the past year (since March 2025).

4.2 Collaborative works are accepted, provided all contributors are credited and have agreed to the submission.

4.3 Entries must not contain defamatory, obscene, or discriminatory material.

4.4 Entries that breach copyright or other intellectual property rights will be disqualified.

5. Selection and judging


5.1 All eligible entries will be reviewed by a judging panel appointed by the organisers.

5.2 Judging will be based on originality, concept, execution, and impact.

5.3 The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding results or feedback.

5.4 Shortlisted entrants will be notified by email. Winners will be announced publicly via the Awards website and Arts University Plymouth channels.



6. Prizes


6.1 Details of prizes and opportunities will be announced via the Awards website before entries open.

6.2 Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.



7. Copyright and permissions


7.1 Entrants retain full copyright and moral rights in their work.

7.2 By entering, entrants grant Arts University Plymouth a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to reproduce their work (with credit) for the purpose of promoting the Awards, including use on websites, social media, and printed materials.

7.3 Entrants are responsible for ensuring that any necessary permissions or licences have been obtained.



8. Data protection


8.1 Personal data collected during the submission process will be used only for the administration of the Awards.

8.2 Data will be handled in accordance with the Arts University Plymouth Privacy Policy and UK data protection law.

8.3 Entrants may request to have their data removed after the Awards close by contacting illustration@aup.ac.uk.



9. Liability


9.1 The organisers accept no responsibility for lost, delayed, incomplete, or corrupted entries, or for any technical issues beyond their control.

9.2 The organisers will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from participation in the Awards.

9.3 Entrants are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are complete and meet all stated requirements.



10. General


10.1 The organisers reserve the right to amend these terms or withdraw the Awards if necessary.

10.2 Any such changes will be communicated on the Awards website.

10.3 By entering, participants agree to these Terms and Conditions in full.

10.4 These Terms are governed by English law, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
